What Are Sulphates and Why Are They Harmful For Your Hair?

How many times have you heard that shampoos have to foam to remove impurities from your hair? What makes foam are sulphates. You can find them in detergents, cleansers, soaps, shower gels, toothpastes… Sulphates are actually salts of sulfuric acid that attract water and oil and thus remove dirt and oil from our skin and hair.

BUT...

Sulphates are so aggressive that they remove our natural oils and proteins from skin and hair that help them to stay healthy. Sulphates make scalp dry, cause hair dandruff and hair loss, as well as allergic reactions. They are especially harmful to people who suffer from skin conditions or problems with hair scalp – eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis etc. They are also harmful for thin and dry hair, and some claim that they can even cause cancer.

Due to their aggressiveness, sulfates rapidly wash both keratin and botox from the hair.

The most common, aggressive and hated sulphate is SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). It increases the risk of scalp irritation, irritates the eyes, and makes hair tangled, damaged and lifeless.

WHAT PRODUCTS TO USE TO WASH THE HAIR?

Cocochoco sulphate-free shampoos

Cocochoco shampoos do not contain sulphates, parabens or other harmful chemicals. They use natural cleansers and make less foam, but are equally efficient in removing impurities without harmful impacts to our skin or hair.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SULPHATE-FREE SHAMPOO FOR YOUR HAIR?

Dry and damaged hair

For dry and damaged hair, there is Ceramide Intensive Restoration. It will help you comb damaged hair and give shine. Complete the hair care with a Keratin Repair mask if you have natural hair color, or a Cashmere mask if you dye your hair. Also use Silk Boost Split Ends Leave in treatment to treat split ends.

Thin and greasy hair

Cocochoco Ceramide Volume Boosting will give extra volume, and since it lifts the hair from the scalp, it is very effective in fighting greasy hair. For an even better effect, use the Cocochoco Boost up hair mask.

Blonde dyed hair

Specially designed for blondes, Cocochoco Anti yellow Silver Touch will remove unwanted yellow highlights from the hair without drying it out or leaving purple marks on the hands. The gentle, non-aggressive formula gives the hair a wonderful shine and nourishment.

Sensitive scalp

For problems with sensitive scalp, use Cocochoco sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo gently cleanses the hair without drying it out and does not irritate the scalp, and the conditioner nourishes the hair and protects it from the heat of a hair dryer, hair curler or hair straightener.
